IL MIO METODO - MY WORKING METHOD

Sono di nuovo al lavoro sulla Storia...un progetto che copre l'ultimo secolo, gli ultimi importanti decenni. C'è da fare...ricerca, studiare libri, guardare film, ma è davvero entusiasmante. ci vorrebbe veramente un backstage per scoprire cose c'è dietro ogni singola illustrazione..che per me è come fare un film.
Molti non capiscono cosa significhi "illustrare". Forse fare scarabocchi su un foglio o su un computer. Per me è immedesimarsi totalmente come un attore che usa il metodo Stanivslaskij per entrare nella propria parte. Senza questa immedesimazione non darei il meglio.
Capite come è difficile fare più lavori contemporaneamente per me..come cambiarsi pelle 3 volte al giorno. Avete mai chiesto a Spielberg se farebbe 3 film nello stesso tempo?

I'm back at work on a project ... about History covering the last century, the last major decades. ... there is lots to do: research, study books, watching movies, but it's really exciting. I really want to do a backstage, to show how many things are behind each illustration .. which to me is like making a movie.
Many people do not understand what it means to "illustrate". Perhaps doodling on a sheet or a computer. For me it is totally empathize with it like an actor who uses the method Stanivslaskij to enter their part. Without this identification would not give you the best.
Do you understand how difficult it is to do multiple jobs at once for me .. as to change skin 3 times a day. Have you ever wondered if Spielberg would direct three movies at the same time?

Nel 2007 Federico creava i primi characters robot, chiamati "Kokonauti".
Dalla sua mascotte Kokoro, nasceva un universo di personaggi che traevano ispirazione dai cartoni animati giapponesi degli anni 70/80 e dalle serie di giocattoli dei Micronauts.
Dopo 4 anni, dopo nuove esperienze nel campo dei toys e un soggetto in testa davvero insistente e consistente, Federico ha deciso di rimettere in gioco questi personaggi, "upgradandoli" nel design e nel concetto, rendendolo più attuale e meno "nostalgico", inserendoli in uno scenario molto contemporaneo.
Questo sketch, nato "di getto" una sera in poche ore, mostra le loro nuove promesse...

In 2007, Federico created his first robot characters, called "Kokonauti".
From his mascot Kokoro, was born an universe of characters, that were inspired by Japanese cartoons of the year 70/80 and the series of Micronauts toys.
After 4 years, after new experiences in the field of toys and a subject in the head very insistent and firm, Federico decided to put these characters on play, with "upgrade" in design and concept, making it more modern and less "nostalgic" and inserting in a very contemporary theme.
This sketch, was born "at one go" in a few hours one evening, showing off their new promises ...

Per uno strano caso di omonimia "Italia Amore Mio" si è trovata a Sanremo come canzone del "discusso" trio Pupo /Emanuele Filiberto / Luca Canonici, ma questa è un'altra storia.

Davvero piacevole l'ultimo lavoro per MONDADORI RAGAZZI.
Quando mi è stato proposto di illustrare la copertina di questo libro, dal tema esoterico e dove bisognava ispirarsi al mondo delle decorazioni delle carte da gioco, non ci sono stati molti dubbi. La grafica e l'illustrazione dei tarocchi, come quella delle carte da gioco, fanti, cavalli, coppe e denari, antri da fattucchiere, macchine Zoltar è un universo che mi ha sempre intrigato. Lo dimostrano anche i primi bozzetti fatti per la copertina... a cui poi ho dato una linea più sobria e femminile, ma senza perdere quel gusto magico.

When I was asked to illustrate the cover of this book, with the esotheric theme and where it must be inspired by the world playing cards's decorations, there were many doubts.
The graphics and illustration of the tarots, such as playing cards, jacks, horses, trophies and money, dens by sorcerers, Zoltar machine is a universe that has always intrigued me.
The show also my first sketches made for the cover ... which I then gave a more sober and feminine, but without losing the taste of magic.

Inizia la mia vacanza e inizia il mio nuovo progetto... ho acquistato una nuova Moleskine e altri due quaderni per gli schizzi. Disegnerò in giro per la mia città, catturando i più suggestivi particolari. Gli altri albi, "i Camminatori" di Otto Gabos, "Vorrei incontrarti" di Gianluca Costantini, "Carnet di Viaggio" di Craig Thompson e la rivista Monocle, serviranno per l'ispirazione... nonchè il bellissimo sito Urban Sketchers.

It starts my holiday and starts my new project... I bought a new Moleskine notebook and two more journals for the sketches. I'll draw around my city, capturing the most evocative details. The other rolls, "i Camminatori" di Otto Gabos, "Vorrei incontrarti" di Gianluca Costantini, "Carnet di Viaggio" di Craig Thompson and Monocle magazine, will be used for inspiration ... and the beautiful site Urban Sketchers too.

Alcuni acquisti per alimentare l'ispirazione; "Viaggio in Italia" è un libro sull'Italia attraverso le cose piacevoli da provare almeno una volta nella vita, nei magnifici luoghi del Belpaese, come "trovare il ragazzo della via Gluck" a Milano, prendere un aperitivo sotto i portici di Bologna, spedire una lettera dall'ufficio postale razionalista di Sabaudia, ecc... tutto magistralmente illustrato da Michele Tranquillini, che disegna anche per il Sole24ore e il Corriere della Sera.

Gli altri sono tutti sul grande Alberto Sordi. Albertone, un libro con DVD con le apparizioni in Tv negli anni 60/70 ed alcuni inediti, edito da Einaudi e un film che mancava ancora in DVD... ilVIGILE.

Some purchases for the inspiration: "Viaggio in Italia" is a book about Italy through the things to try at least once in lifetime, in the magnificent places of "Belpaese" like "find the guy of the Gluck street" in Milan, take a drink in the arcades of Bologna, sent a letter from the rationalist post office Sabaudia, etc. ... all masterfully illustrated by Michael Tranquillini, who has also works for Sole24ore and the Corriere della Sera.
The others are all on the great Alberto Sordi. Albertone, a book with DVD with appearances on TV in the years 60/70 and some rarities, published by Einaudi and a movie not yet on DVD ... ilVIGILE.

Tempo fa, stavo preparando il materiale per IDN magazine, che in un imminente numero si occuperà di auto promozione (self-promotion). Mi è stato chiesto di inviare foto di tutte le mie autopromozioni, ed è sorta così una specie di "viaggio nel tempo" nel recente passato di questi 2 anni appena trascorsi con Kokoro & Joujou, fino ad arrivare ad "ITALIA Amore Mio", la fortunata serie sul Belpaese.

Long ago, I was preparing material for IDN magazine, in an upcoming issue will talking about self promotion. They ask me to send photos of all my self-production, and it was a kind of "travel time" in the recent past of these 2 years passed with Kokoro & Joujou until "ITALIA AMORE MIO", the successful series about Italy and it's culture.
